2025-2026

The University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) is a mandatory basic health care plan for students enrolled at Ontario universities. This coverage offers benefits similar to those provided by Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) and, therefore, excludes coverage for prescription drugs and dental care. To find out what services are covered by UHIP, visit their website This link will open in a new window.

The UHIP rate is subject to change by Cowan, the UHIP provider for the UOF.  The annual cost of UHIP is billed to the student account and payable in the first semester of the academic year. A UHIP refund is calculated monthly on a pro-rated basis for unused coverage in the event of withdrawal from studies. Any amount deposited into the student account will be applied to UHIP, then to tuition fees, and finally to ancillary fees.
